Fourth of July weekend offered a much needed break from my crazy busy schedule. Unfortunatly, I wasn’t able to get the whole weekend off so I had to work 11:30-8 on Saturday. But besides that I had a fantastic time out at the lake with my family, watching fireworks, grilling out, and going to a local airshow/balloon event that Brett helps coordinate.
Let’s begin with July 4th. Usually on the fourth both sides of my family (my mom’s family and my dad’s family) come together for a huge celebration at the lake. This year was a little different because we had a smaller party with only a few families there. It was still so much fun to have both of my Grandmas hanging out together. I love being able to spend time with both of my families at once!
The fourth was even more special because my Grandpa took us on a boat ride. This felt like the biggest treat ever because he rarely ever drives the boat anymore. I love when he takes us on boat rides because he can tell us who lives where on the lake. He just knows so much and I really admire him. I felt so spoiled being able to spend so much time with my grandparents this weekend!
After spending time out at the lake my parents, sister, and I headed to the airshow grounds for fireworks. Brett’s whole family was there as well as a few of his friends so we had a great time hanging out together. I really enjoyed the fireworks this year and I love being able to watch them with my family and friends. I enjoy celebrating our freedom and thanking everyone that has fought for our country. I feel lucky to live in such a great country where we are free vote and make our own decisions.
Like I said before, I had to work on the fifth. After work we had a neighborhood party with food, drinks, a bonfire, and fireworks. It was fun sitting around the fire talking and laughing with my neighbors. I have known most of them since I was 4 or 5 so they have all watched me grow up. I have babysat most of the kids and it is weird watching them turn into teenagers. It seems like just yesterday I was changing their diapers and tucking them into bed!
Today I woke up bright and early to go to the performer briefing for the airshow. I’m obviously not a performer but Brett has to go to the briefings so that he can update the event’s facebook page. After that, we headed to the event grounds to get ready for our busy day. It was such a nice day to spend watching all of the amazingly talented pilots!
Brett is majoring in Aviation Administration so he loves all things airplanes. I just love how happy airshows make him. He is so passionate about them! I had a great day hanging out with Brett and his friends. I am grateful that I get to have opportunities like this!
I had such a great weekend. I don’t want to go to work tomorrow at all! I am pretty sunburnt even though I wore sunscreen so I know that wearing my uniform tomorrow will suck!!!
How did you spend your Fourth of July weekend?? Thanks for reading!!
