July Favorites!

July_end

Wow! July really flew by! I guess it’s time for another Favorites post….

1. Lilac Nail Polish: My go to nail polish this past month was Sally Hansen’s Violet Voltage. The first time I used it I wore it as is but for the second time I added an accent nail using Sally Hansen’s Disco Ball. I absolutely love the color lilac and it is the perfect color for summer! Disco Ball works well to add a bit of sparkle to any color polish and I find myself using it all of the time! Sally Hansen is my favorite nail polish brand because they are super affordable, opaque, and they come in so many different colors!

2. John Frida Leave in Conditioner: At the beginning of July I decided that I had to do something about my crazy dry hair. I considered buying It’s a Ten but the $17 dollar price tag didn’t seem worth it. I stumbled upon John Frieda Frizz Ease Daily Nourishment Leave-in Conditioner one day at Ulta. I have used It’s a Ten Leave-in Conditioner many times so I can safely say that Frizz Ease is a great dupe! I got one bottle for $5.99! Ulta was having a BOGO 50% off sale for I grabbed two and I will never ever go back to It’s a Ten!

3. Victoria’s Secret Smoothing Body Scrub: For me, summer means shaving. Therefore, I always use a body scrub to achieve a nice, close shave. The one I used all of July was Victoria’s Secret Smoothing Body Scrub in At First Sight. The scent is a little strong but other than that I love this product!

4.  Maybelline’s The Falsies Volum’ Express: I bought this mascara because I was looking for waterproof mascara that I could wear all day without clumping. I really like this mascara because it has a curved wand that follows the shape of your eye. I love wands like this because it allows you to get closer to the roots of your lashes. I got this in Brownish Black which I really love because it isn’t as harsh as straight black mascara. Overall, this mascara is now my all-time favorite!

5. Mary Kay’s Cream Eye Color: I previously reviewed this product in my Mary Kay Glam Voxbox post. I received this eye shadow from Influenster to try and review.  This has become my go-to eye color because it is a soft, blend able cream that sits on my eyelids without creasing. The shade that I own is Apricot Twist which is a bronzy color. I wore this almost every day in July because I love it so much!

6. Formula 10.0.6 So Totally Clean Pore Cleanser: I have had problems with my skin for as long as I can remember. I have tried a million different products, medications, and treatments but nothing seems to work. I have had some luck with Formula 10.0.6 mud masks so I decided to try the Clear Skin Starts Here kit. The whole set is only $9.99 at Ulta which is super affordable. I have had pretty good luck with it so far but will continue to test it before giving the full review. I can say that I am in love with the So Totally Clean Deep Pore Cleanser!! It is basically a toner with salicylic acid which helps fight breakouts! I use it after washing my face and it gets rid of anything that was left behind!

7. Jewelry Organization: I am doing a complete room re-organization before school starts in the fall. The first thing on my list was my vanity/dresser. I knew I needed some sort of organization for my bracelet collection. I was able to find four dishes in similar blue and green patterns for $7 at TJ Maxx! They are so cute!!

8. My Neurologist: I have mentioned this before but I suffer from severe headaches/migraines. Some doctors use the term chronic migraines. Basically, I have a headache every single day and have at least one migraine day a week. It’s terrible and makes it really hard for me to do normal activities. I have been working with a Neurologist for almost a year trying to figure everything out. Last week, I had a CT scan of my blood vessels and brain tissue so hopefully that will provide some additional answers. I am so lucky that my insurance lets me see a specialist because I don’t know what I would do without it! I just started a new pain treatment with includes an additional preventative medication. I can already feel a difference in my pain levels! I am just really thankful for my doctor and my parents for standing by me and helping me through this.

July was perfect and I am looking forward to what August has in store for me! Thank you all for reading!

A Saturday Off!

Last weekend I finally had a Saturday off. Every weekend I work at least 8.5 hours a day. I haven’t had a weekend off (besides Florida) for ages. I seriously can’t even remember having a weekend off…haha

But anyway, last Saturday I had a wonderful day with my family and with Brett. In the morning my mom, sister and I headed to our local farmer’s market. My mom and Dani go to the market every Saturday morning but I have only been able to go with them twice. Our farmer’s market is so nice and has such a huge variety of food, flowers, and other goods. We always buy our fruits and vegetables there as well as coffee. This weekend we got eggs, two things of carrots, four pints of raspberries, lettuce, kale, coffee, and bread.

After the farmer’s market we went out for brunch at The Crow’s Nest. It was my first time there and it was amazing! I ordered the banana bread French toast with a side of fresh fruit. It was delicious!

Later on, I got prettied up using my Mary Kay products that I have been testing from Influenster! I am so pleased with how everything turned out! I don’t normally wear makeup but when I do I always feel really uncomfortable and fake. This time I felt really pretty and comfortable the whole night. I was super excited to show off my look to Brett!

I drove over to Brett’s house and we ended up going to one of the parks close to his house. We walked a mile through the trails. It was a beautiful day and a couple was having their wedding in the park. It was so fun walking and talking with my favorite guy. I wore a thrifted Old Navy dress and sparkly black sandals. It was such a nice day to be out and about! After our walk we were hot so we stopped for some frozen yogurt! Yum!

We spent the rest of the night the volunteer celebration at the local theatre. Brett and I both volunteer at the Civic at least once a month for the past three years. We love giving back to the community while seeing amazing shows! The theatre had a DJ, chocolate fountain, cotton candy, and so much food for us to enjoy. It was a great way to celebrate another fantastic season at the theatre!

Mary Kay Glam Voxbox!

A few weeks ago I received the MK Glam voxbox compliments of Infleunster! I was super excited to try Mary Kay products because I haven’t tried them before. I was surprised with the quality of the different products and I have had a lot of fun trying them out! I am hoping to do a more in depth review of the products after testing them farther but I did want to give you guys a quick idea of my thoughts so far.

Look at this awesome box!

Look at this awesome box!

The first product that I opened was the Mary Kay Lash Love Mascara in I ❤ Black. I am not a mascara person because I haven’t been able to find one that doesn’t make my eyes water. However, I have worn this mascara a couple of times and it hasn’t really bothered me that much! My biggest and only complaint about this mascara is that it is not waterproof. I also noticed that it doesn’t add any volume to my eyelashes. Overall, this mascara is one of the best ones that I have tried and I would recommend it if you are looking for a new mascara!

The next product that I tested was the Cream Eye Color in Apricot Twist. I was super impressed with this eye color! I did a quick hand swatch to test the color and found that it is very light and easily blends. I have really dark eyelids and often have problems with eye shadows because they just don’t show up. This eye shadow stood out against my dark eyelids and lasted all day long. I will definitely buy this product after I run out of the sample because it is a very high quality eye shadow.

Thank you Influenster and Mary Kay!

The Mary Kay Mineral Cheek Color in Shy Blush is actually the very first blush that I have ever owned. I don’t really know what to do with it yet but I am learning! I will let you know later how that goes but I am definitely not a makeup guru! So far I can tell that this is a beautiful shade of blush and it lasts all day.

I was super excited to see the Translucent Loose Powder because I needed some more and this is so much better than my last powder. What I love most about this product is that you but a small amount over your foundation and it helps make your makeup last all day! An added bonus is that this powder also makes my face look less shiny and more matte. I really love it so far and I am looking forward to wearing it more and more.

Lovely products :)

Lovely products 🙂

Gel Eyeliner with Expandable Brush Applicator in Jet Black is something that I have never seen before. I do not wear eyeliner. Like I said before, eye products tend to make my eyes water which is really uncomfortable to deal with all day. I have not tried this product yet but I think that the expandable brush is so cute and is very functional for on the go!

The Bronzing Powder that came in this voxbox is really quite lovely. I have not used a lot of bronzer in my lifetime because I am so pale and bronzer tends to make me look orange! However, I hand swatched this bronzer and it is just enough color to stand out on my skin without making me look orange.  So far, I think that this is a great product and I plan on wearing it more throughout the summer to achieve a sunny and natural look!

Nourishine Plus Lip Gloss in Mango Tango seemed a little scary at first because of the super bright orange color. However, once I put it on it blended really well into my lips and didn’t seem that bright. I haven’t worn this lip gloss that often because it isn’t really that practical to wear to work at a fast food restaurant.  I do love the fact that this lip gloss isn’t super sticky when you put it on. It goes on smooth and makes my lips feel soft and happy! 🙂
