October According to my iPhone

It’s November! October is my favorite month so I am kind of bummed that it’s over but I had a great month and I’m excited to share this month’s round of iPhone pictures.

October started out badly with the passing of my good friend, Alex. He was only 25 and I had known him since kindergarten. Alex was also my freshman year roommate’s ex-boyfriend so we spent a great deal of our college careers together. He was so funny and had always been a great friend. I’ll really miss him. He was hit by a car on his way to work which once again proves that life is way too short. Brett and I always raise a glass and toast to our loved ones when they pass. It’s something that I learned from my mom and have continued doing.

Oscar the burrower looking too cute for words.

Brett and I babysat our nieces, Ava and Elizabeth, while their parents had a nice night out. It’s so cute to see Brett interact with them! A couple of months ago he was too scared to hold them but now he’s first to react when they cry and is always ready to rock them back to sleep. He’s the best uncle!

We got Oscar a Detroit Lions jersey. He had such an exciting day watching the game with the guys that he fell asleep with his jersey on!

My work had their annual Fall Festival and I had the opportunity to co-sponsor it. It was a lot of work but so much fun!

I spent many days at the lake with my grandparents. The lake is my favorite!

I celebrated 3 years at work! My company sent me a beautiful Orchid and a gift card.

My dad stopped by the night before my birthday with donuts and cider from our local apple orchard. It was the best way to start my birthday weekend!

Brett got me my favorite cake from Coldstone. It’s called Peanut Butter Playground. Yummmm

We spent the Sunday of my birthday weekend at the lake with my family. My grandpa and I have the same birth date so we always celebrate together! So much fun!

We had a snowy Halloween night in Michigan but at least Bruno and Oscar looked cute! My nieces came over along with their parents, my parents, Brett’s mom, and Brett’s uncle. We had a good night despite the cold weather!

How was your October?

Help Us Plan Our Trip To Rome!

Visiting Rome, Italy
Hey friends!

Brett and I are trying to plan a trip to Rome for this upcoming October! Neither of us have been and it is #1 on our bucket list.

I visited Venice for one day in 2011 and fell in love with the Italian culture but did not have enough time to truly explore. I have been wanting to visit Rome since 2003 when the Lizzie McGuire Movie first premiered.

Since we have never been to Rome we are in dire need of suggestions. Where to stay, eat, visit, etc.? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Our current plan is to visit all of the touristy places – Coliseum, Vatican, Trevi Fountain, etc. But we would love to know what else we should see!

Thanks! 🙂

Fall Bucket List

fall

Like I said in my last post, October is my favorite season and I am planning on making the most of it! So here is my Fall Bucket List with all of the things that I hope to accomplish this season

  1. Take a trip to an apple orchard/pumpkin patch.
  2. Go through a corn maze.
  3. Eat plenty of apple and pumpkin donuts with a big glass of apple cider!
  4. Take fall walks with my new puppy! (Yes, I have a puppy named Megan. Post coming soon!)
  5. Spend some quality time with my family!
  6. Celebrate my 21st Birthday with family and friends.
  7. Try baking at least one pumpkin recipe.
  8. Carve pumpkins with Brett.
  9. Watch Halloween Town and Hocus Pocus!
  10. Get out all of my comfy sweaters, jeans, and scarves.

Fall is finally here and I am so excited!

Why I love October!

Today is October 1st which means that my favorite month has officially begun! Happy October everyone! I thought that I would share with you some reasons why October has always been my favorite month and why I look forward to it every year

1. It’s my birth month: I feel like this is the most obvious reason of them all. Birthdays have always been special to me because I share my birthday with my Grandpa who is one of the most important people in my life. I was also blessed with the most amazing birthday gift when my god sister, Riley, was born on my birthday as well. I love sharing my day with two of the best people in the world.

Me and my Grandpa!

                  Me and my Grandpa!

2. Fall is finally here: Fall officially begins in September but it never really feels like fall until October. Fall is my all-time favorite season because I love visiting pumpkin patches and apple orchards, watching the leaves change colors, and snuggling up in my favorite sweaters. And of course, drinking gallons upon gallons of warm apple cider!

3. Pumpkin everything: I love pumpkin donuts, drinks, cakes, and everything in between! Seeing ads for pumpkin flavored things makes me happy. I’m also a huge apple fan. Give me caramel apples and apple cider and I will be set for life! I’m just a simple girl who loves fall a little too much 🙂

4. Halloween: My favorite holiday growing up was always Halloween. Partly because of how close it is to my birthday but also because I love the atmosphere. I love passing out candy on my porch and seeing everyone have such a great night. My neighborhood goes all out for Halloween so it’s always a really fun night!

I hope you guys enjoyed the reasons why I love October! I am so excited for this month and all of the activities that are taking place. I’m thinking about writing an October Bucket List if anyone is interested! Have a wonderful day!
