Get to Know Me!

Hey guys! This is just a little introduction post because I just realized that I never really wrote one…. Oops.

1. Well, I will be 21 in October! I am looking forward to a low key gathering with some of my close friends. We are planning to go out somewhere but I know that I’m not the type to go too crazy. I have honestly been waiting for my 21st birthday before I start drinking. I know it’s not that big of a deal but I am a complete rule follower. I would feel so bad if I broke the law and drank before it’s legal. Plus, I have heard that alcohol doesn’t even taste good. Apparently you have to acquire the taste which seems like too much work!

2. I am a junior in college this fall. I am little ahead but I will still graduate spring 2016. My major is Electronic Business Marketing with minors in General and International Business. I am completely in love with the Business World and know that I have picked the right career path for me!

3. My favorite color is purple. I’m all purple everything.

4. When I was younger I wanted to be a writer. I would write a ton of cute, cheesy books that I would insist that every member of my family should read. It was great. I eventually moved on but now I use my blog to fulfill my love of writing.

5. I’m trying to quit drinking pop. It is way harder than I thought that it would be. Any suggestions?

6. I was in the high school marching band. I loved marching! I met many great friends and made awesome memories that will last me the rest of my life. I am a proud band geek! It was nice that I always had a place where I felt at home. I could go to the band room when I was having a bad day and be around people who cared about me.  I miss band but will always carry the experiences and memories with me.

7. I love my cat! Her name is Lucy and she is so cute and cuddly. My mom adopted Lucy for me during my junior year of high school as a present right after Christmas. Lucy had been at the pound for over 45 days which means that she was about to be put down. I walked in and she stuck her paws through the cage. I instantly fell in love with her and we have been inseparable since!

8. All through high school I was planning on being a Music Performance major in college. I play the flute and I used to practice 3-5 hours a day along with lessons, classes, rehearsals, and ensembles. I love music and I am passionate about playing. However, I have stage fright and have a hard time playing in front of people. So being a Music Performance major would be really difficult. My sophomore year I played a Mozart piece for Solo and Ensemble that I spent over a year preparing! Music will always be an important part of my life but I’m glad that I decided to major in Business.

Well, thanks for reading! I am looking forward to getting to know all of you too!

End of Summer Thoughts

046

Summer is almost over and I am starting to freak out! I am not looking forward to going back to school! I have this problem where I really overbook myself which means that I am taking five classes, in two clubs, volunteering, and working 30 hours a week. How am I going to make this work?

Last year, I lived on campus which provided me the luxury of literally rolling out of bed and running to class. This year I live 30ish minutes away so I will have to plan my time wisely. I’m anxious about living off campus because I never have done it before. I moved back home with my parents so that I can study abroad in the spring. I can’t sign a lease since I will be leaving (hopefully!) in January.

The reality of summer coming to an end has driven me to writing lists like crazy. There is still so much that I need to get done but so little time! Lists are my way of getting everything out of my system. Once I write it done I can stop remembering and overanalyzing it.  I have a journal that is completely designated for lists. I write lists of bloggers I follow, blog post ideas, what I need to get done, what to buy, etc. I write lists mostly before bed so that I can sleep without worrying about the things that I have to do the next day.

Organization is a huge part of my life. College is hard and staying on top of assignments is almost impossible. I rely heavily on lists, my planner, and excel spreadsheets to keep me on task.  I am currently in the market for a new 2014-2015 planner which I will most likely buy from Target. I really considered buying an expensive planner this year because it is something that I use every day. But in the end I would rather spend my money on tuition or something more important.

Well, thanks for reading my random blog. Remember to enjoy the rest of your summer! 🙂

How to Remain Positive

howtoremainpositiveedit

I’m not going to lie, today was rough. Being in customer service can make you bitter, angry, and confused. Sometimes I want to tell customers that I’m trying my hardest to make them happy. I am just a twenty year old college student trying to make a living while paying tuition. Today I realized that I cannot possibly make everyone happy. I am a people pleaser and I thrive on making people happy but sometimes there is nothing I can do. Sometimes I have to be the punching bag and just absorb people’s feelings, words, and negativity.

With that said, I have a few tips on how to remain positive even when you are having a terrible day. I am lucky enough to have a manager/friend who is always there to guide me and give me advice. Today he sat me down and explained to me that I have to just keep pushing through. I have to remain positive for the sake of our team. If I crack under the pressure then the whole place will go down with me. So, today I am choosing to overcome the bitterness of others and remain positive and happy. Here’s how I’m doing it:

1. Realize that everyone is different: We all have different preferences, tastes, and feelings. You can’t label everyone the same because each person is unique. Learn something from everyone you meet and you will be a happier, more positive person.

2. Don’t focus on your mistakes: You will mess up every once in a while. No one is perfect so you can’t hold yourself to an unachievable standard. If you hold yourself up to a perfect standard you will just be disappointed in yourself. Cut yourself some slack when you make a mistake and learn from it. Let yourself move on.

3. Give yourself a break: When I get frustrated at work I like to go into the office, shut the lights off and close my eyes. This lets me have a few seconds of peace before returning to chaos. Giving yourself a second to slow down and think will allow you the time to remind yourself to think positive thoughts.

4. Remember that at the end of the day you did your best. Sometimes you have to walk away from things that are causing you pain and that’s okay! Don’t allow yourself to be stuck being miserable. Every day you have the decision about whether or not to have a good day. It’s up to you, and sure people can influence your choice, but ultimately the outcome depends on how you choose to handle it.

Be proud of who you are and what you do! No one can judge you or make you feel like you are worthless. Today you can either choose to be positive or negative. No one can make that choice but you. So, forget about what others say, what they do, or how they act. Remember to remain positive and everything will be okay, I promise.

July Favorites!

July_end

Wow! July really flew by! I guess it’s time for another Favorites post….

1. Lilac Nail Polish: My go to nail polish this past month was Sally Hansen’s Violet Voltage. The first time I used it I wore it as is but for the second time I added an accent nail using Sally Hansen’s Disco Ball. I absolutely love the color lilac and it is the perfect color for summer! Disco Ball works well to add a bit of sparkle to any color polish and I find myself using it all of the time! Sally Hansen is my favorite nail polish brand because they are super affordable, opaque, and they come in so many different colors!

2. John Frida Leave in Conditioner: At the beginning of July I decided that I had to do something about my crazy dry hair. I considered buying It’s a Ten but the $17 dollar price tag didn’t seem worth it. I stumbled upon John Frieda Frizz Ease Daily Nourishment Leave-in Conditioner one day at Ulta. I have used It’s a Ten Leave-in Conditioner many times so I can safely say that Frizz Ease is a great dupe! I got one bottle for $5.99! Ulta was having a BOGO 50% off sale for I grabbed two and I will never ever go back to It’s a Ten!

3. Victoria’s Secret Smoothing Body Scrub: For me, summer means shaving. Therefore, I always use a body scrub to achieve a nice, close shave. The one I used all of July was Victoria’s Secret Smoothing Body Scrub in At First Sight. The scent is a little strong but other than that I love this product!

4.  Maybelline’s The Falsies Volum’ Express: I bought this mascara because I was looking for waterproof mascara that I could wear all day without clumping. I really like this mascara because it has a curved wand that follows the shape of your eye. I love wands like this because it allows you to get closer to the roots of your lashes. I got this in Brownish Black which I really love because it isn’t as harsh as straight black mascara. Overall, this mascara is now my all-time favorite!

5. Mary Kay’s Cream Eye Color: I previously reviewed this product in my Mary Kay Glam Voxbox post. I received this eye shadow from Influenster to try and review.  This has become my go-to eye color because it is a soft, blend able cream that sits on my eyelids without creasing. The shade that I own is Apricot Twist which is a bronzy color. I wore this almost every day in July because I love it so much!

6. Formula 10.0.6 So Totally Clean Pore Cleanser: I have had problems with my skin for as long as I can remember. I have tried a million different products, medications, and treatments but nothing seems to work. I have had some luck with Formula 10.0.6 mud masks so I decided to try the Clear Skin Starts Here kit. The whole set is only $9.99 at Ulta which is super affordable. I have had pretty good luck with it so far but will continue to test it before giving the full review. I can say that I am in love with the So Totally Clean Deep Pore Cleanser!! It is basically a toner with salicylic acid which helps fight breakouts! I use it after washing my face and it gets rid of anything that was left behind!

7. Jewelry Organization: I am doing a complete room re-organization before school starts in the fall. The first thing on my list was my vanity/dresser. I knew I needed some sort of organization for my bracelet collection. I was able to find four dishes in similar blue and green patterns for $7 at TJ Maxx! They are so cute!!

8. My Neurologist: I have mentioned this before but I suffer from severe headaches/migraines. Some doctors use the term chronic migraines. Basically, I have a headache every single day and have at least one migraine day a week. It’s terrible and makes it really hard for me to do normal activities. I have been working with a Neurologist for almost a year trying to figure everything out. Last week, I had a CT scan of my blood vessels and brain tissue so hopefully that will provide some additional answers. I am so lucky that my insurance lets me see a specialist because I don’t know what I would do without it! I just started a new pain treatment with includes an additional preventative medication. I can already feel a difference in my pain levels! I am just really thankful for my doctor and my parents for standing by me and helping me through this.

July was perfect and I am looking forward to what August has in store for me! Thank you all for reading!

Trader Joe’s Haul

Trader Joe's

Trader Joe’s happens to be my family’s favorite store. We don’t have one near our house so every time we go near one we stock up on all of our favorite products. This time we also tried a couple of new products! Here’s the list of what we bought this weekend while visiting our friends in Ohio.

1. Fuji Apple Slices– These were the perfect snack for our drive back home. They tasted just like Fuji apples! I am so happy with the quality and taste of these apple slices so we will definitely buy them again.

2. Multigrain Bread– My family loves bread so we are always on the lookout for a new kind. I haven’t tried this yet but I can tell that it is really good quality bread!

3. Mocha Cappuccino Mix– My mom is taking this to work so I’m not sure I will get to try it. But it smells really good and comes in a cute little can!

4. Organic Ginger Pear White Tea– Yummy! I had a mug of this stuff last night before bed and it is absolutely delicious! I am so happy that I decided to add this to my tea collection! It’s a light, fruity tea. I was afraid that the pear flavor would be overpowering but it isn’t at all. It’s the perfect combination of ginger, pear, and white tea. If you love trying new flavors of tea then I definitely recommend this! It is so yummy!

5. Coconut Cranberry Granola– We bought two boxes of these because they are simply the best granola ever. And for $2.49 a box you really can’t beat the price! This is great with yogurt (Coconut Greek is my favorite) or just with milk. So yummy and inexpensive!

6. Speculoos Cookie Butter– Once again, we bought two jars of this because it is the best thing in the world. I love cookie butter!!! It is my favorite sweet treat and goes good with apples, celery, or just by itself. The possibilities are endless and you can really put this on anything. I love it.

7. Speculoos Cookie & Cocoa Swirl- This goes great on apples. In my opinion, it’s not as good as the original cookie butter but still tastes amazing! This is a repurchase for us and will continue to be on my list of Trader Joe’s must haves.

8. Lavender Salt Scrub– My sister got this last time and I was so jealous so I went ahead and bought myself a jar. And let me tell you, it is heavenly. I am a huge fan of Lavender and this does not disappoint! It is the perfect body scrub and smells so delicious!

9. Coconut Oil Body Butter– This is the first time that we have purchased body butter from Trader Joe’s. I am not at all disappointed with it because it isn’t oily or too heavy. It is just the right amount of moisture and leaves my body feeling soft and lovely.

10. Tea Tree Oil– My sister and I have wanted to try Tea Tree oil for a long time. We finally decided to buy some and I am so happy that we did! It smells terrible but I have only used it a couple of times and can already see results! I am using it on pimples, acne scars, and other issues on my face. It really reduces the redness and the swelling on my face! I am really pleased with it so far and will continue to find new uses for tea tree oil. A little bit goes a long way so I’m sure this bottle will last us a long time. If you have any tips or uses for tea tree oil please let me know!

11. Coffee A Cocoa– I am not a coffee fan but this is my mom and sister’s favorite kind. So I assume it’s really good because they buy it every time we are at TJ’s!

12. Dark Chocolate Peanut Buttercups– These were an impulse buy but are so delicious! We were originally looking for Justin’s Organic Peanut Buttercups but we couldn’t find them. So we got these and they are amazing! We have them in our refrigerator and I have to stop myself from eating the whole container! So yummy!

So that’s all we got this time! Please let me know if you have a favorite Trader Joe’s item that I have to try! I will post more about our mini trip to Ohio soon!

London is Calling-And I am Answering!

London is Calling

For as long as I can remember I have wanted to travel the World. My wish came true the summer before my senior year of high school when I travelled to Europe with my best friends. I was nominated by my band director to go on a tour with two hundred other high school musicians.  This was an experience of a lifetime that I seriously could not pass up. So I worked my butt off, got a job, and found a way to make my dream happen.

On this trip we went to London, Paris, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Italy, and Lichtenstein (clearly not in that order.) We flew into London and I can still remember that first moment stepping out of the airport. Everything was so new and exciting. I could feel my heart beating so fast and in that moment I was indescribably happy.  My junior year was particularly rough for me but I knew that this trip was a new and exciting way to begin my senior year. So with my best friends by my side we took on Europe!

London was perfect. I loved the architecture, history, and the feel of the city.  I felt at home in a city that I had never been to. That’s when I knew that I would be back. At the time, I didn’t know how I could possibly make it back to London. But now, with the help of my advisers, my family, my boyfriend, and my friends I have found a way to make my dream come true.

Paris

My mom, sister, and me in Paris!

Spring 2015 I will be studying abroad in London. I haven’t been accepted into the program yet but I will make it happen. This is the scariest, most daunting decision that I have ever faced. I am scared of moving away from my parents and Brett. I am scared of living in a big city where I don’t know my way around. I am scared of not making any friends and being miserable. I am scared period. But this is something that I have to do. I know that if I don’t I will regret it for the rest of my life.

So I am looking for advice. Have any of you studied abroad or moved to a different city? What can I do to prepare? Is there anything I should know?

Thank you so much! I will fill you guys in with my progress! 🙂

Monday Funday

I have a love-hate relationship with Mondays.  On one hand I love them because they are a fresh start to a new week of possibilities. On the other hand, I hate them because it means another week of work and school. But this Monday was particularly exciting because it was the day EVERYTHING for my class was due. My class ends of Wednesday so today our final project was due. The final project included the project itself, a paper, and a presentation. So I have been dreading today since the beginning of the semester.

Three reasons why I hated this project:

1. We had to run an organization and we didn’t get to pick what kind of organization. So our professor assigned us all the task of running a car wash where we had to raise the money for the Entrepreneur Club. I am not in that club so I don’t feel inclined to raise money for them but since it’s for a grade I had to.

2. It was a group project so I was randomly placed with four people that I didn’t know. One guy ended up not helping us or showing up to anything. So we wrote him out of our group. It wasn’t fun. However, the girl in my group was really nice and I actually liked her! So that was good.

3. I had to write the paper and do the presentation by myself. Once again, group projects suck! One person always does all the work and that person is always me!

My professor is a funny guy though and he doesn’t like to completely screw us over at the end of the semester. So he surprised us by bringing our final exam to class with him and giving them to us! Our final exam is now a take home exam for anyone that was in class today! I am so happy about that!

I was dreading today but it actually turned out to be a pretty great day, especially for a Monday. I ended my day with dinner with my family and a nice hot shower. I have to be at work at 7:30 tomorrow morning to open. Yay!

How did you spend your Monday? And how do you feel about group projects?
