2018 Third Quarter Goals

Goooood morning and Happy Monday!

I can’t believe that we are already half way through 2018! This year is going by so quickly and now that summer is here I would really like time to slow down a bit 🙂

You may be wondering why I do quarter goals instead of monthly or annual goals if you haven’t read my first and second goal posts. I really like to give myself extra time to complete goals so monthly goals are out of the question. However, a year is too much time to concentrate on my goals so splitting them into four parts makes them more manageable!

The second quarter of 2018 proved to be a very trying time for me. I learned a lot but I am happy to leave the events in the past. I’m ready to have a fresh start in third quarter!

  1. Finish unpacking. Yes, we moved in March and yes, we still have a few boxes to unpack. I’d love to go into fourth quarter with an unpacked house with fully built furniture. Moving is hard and I feel like we will never run out of things to do but we are loving being homeowners!
  2. Teach Oscar some basic commands. Oscar can already sit pretty well and is on his way to being fully potty trained. I would love to focus on his leash walking skills, stay, shake, and getting him to fully recognize his name.
  3. Create some work-life balance. Ugh, this is so hard for me but I really need to learn to put myself first! I have been so stressed at work and it’s not good for me or my co-workers. I have been trying to leave on time, take lunches, and get up from my desk instead of being locked up all day.
  4. Finish up all of our remaining wedding items. This includes picking up our wedding video from the videographer, writing vender reviews, finishing our wedding album, writing some wedding related blog posts, and thanking the many people who helped make our day special again.
  5. Go on a date with Brett. I can’t remember the last time Brett and I truly went on a date just the two of us. I would love to see a movie, go to dinner, or grab ice cream and just chat. We have both been so busy and I honestly miss him! Some nights we have to stay up late talking because we haven’t been able to spend any time together and we have a lot to catch up on.
  6. Start planning our next adventure. I miss traveling and I am longing to get out of the country for a bit. Our honeymoon in London was SO fun and I constantly think about it. Brett and I have so much fun traveling together and right now he works for an airline so we fly stand-by for free. We need to take advantage of these benefits and get away!

These are just a few of the things that I am hoping to accomplish over the next couple of months! I know 2018 will be over before we know it so it’s time to really kick my booty into gear!

Life of Hayley has been a little depressing as of late. I was talking to my husband, Brett, the other night and he said I should make a list of the things that make me happy so when I’m down I can read the list. So here goes nothing!

By the way, this list is not in any kind of order.

That was easier than I thought it would be! I could go on and on but I won’t bore you with the details. Making a list of my favorite things actually did make me feel so much better! Next time I’m feeling down I will come back and read through this to remember my happiness.

And as the saying goes – “It’s a bad day, not a bad life”

2018: Second Quarter Goals

2018 Second Quarter Goals
Hello there!

I didn’t think this post was going to happen but here we are. What’s new with you? Are you crushing your 2018 goals?

I am back with another quarterly goal list and I just wanted to mention how first quarter went for me.

The first three months of 2018 went by so quickly. January was a blur of excitement, anxiety, and many, many tears. February featured the birth of my co-worker’s baby which means three months of maternity leave for her. In other words, I am swamped at work but thriving. I am learning every day and my team is simply amazing. March feels like it didn’t even happen. March meant long hours, lots of meals at my desk, and an overflowing calendar. In other words, tax season. It’s been a rough three months but I am grateful every day for the opportunities that have been thrown my way.

We are almost one month down for the first quarter. I still can’t believe how fast this year is going! Can time just please slow down a bit?!

So, here are a few of the things I am hoping to accomplish during what is left of the second quarter.

  1. Create healthy habits. What does a healthy lifestyle look like for me? I am still trying to figure this out but I will not stop until I have the answers that I am looking for. I don’t like what I see in the mirror and I am going to change that. Baby steps are needed but little by little I will get to where I want to be.
  2. Family First. My grandparents are back from Arizona which means that summer is right around the corner. I want to spend as much time as I can with my family. I want to go camping, spend days at the lake, and just enjoy as much time as I can with the people that I love most.
  3. Make our house a home. If you didn’t read my last post, Brett and I bought a house and moved in last month! We are so excited to decorate and really turn this house into our own home. We have dreamed of this for so long and still can’t believe that this is our reality. This is the beginning of another chapter in our story.
  4. Me Time. I find myself putting other people first a lot of the time. I often forget to take care of myself. I want to find time to do things that help myself like get a haircut and buy some clothes that will flatter my new, curvier figure. I have spent so much time the last couple of months being really negative about my body so I need to spend some time on making myself better from the inside out.
  5. Blogging. Is this still a thing? Does Life of Hayley even exist or matter? It’s time to figure it out. Maybe I will never be full time writer or have the most pin worthy posts but sharing pieces of my story impacts my life is a positive way. I need to figure out a way to make this blog work. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! 🙂
  6. Get my head in the game. A huge thing that is holding me back is my health. I mentioned in a recent post that my headaches and migraines have been getting worse. It’s miserable. I have an appointment with my neurologist in mid May. I am hoping to discuss some next steps with him that could improve my quality of life. Right now I feel like I am just trying to make it through each day in one piece.

Wow, I had a lot to say. I sometimes forget how much I love having an outlet for all of these thoughts that usually just bounce around in my head.

Hello Again!

It’s been a while since I have added any new content to this blog. There are a few reasons for this but it’s mostly because I have been feeling pretty down since returning to the U.S. It has been a lot harder for me adjust back to life here than it was for me to adjust to life in London. Don’t get me wrong, it is great being back with my family and Brett but I miss my carefree life in London.

There have been a lot of changes in my life recently that have also affected my desire to blog. I have the best news that I will share with you all on my next blog post! I have also recently accepted a promotion at work which has led to some training and new responsibilities. Going back to work has been hard but it is a good way to keep my mind off of London.

I also feel like a lot of bloggers only show one side of their lives which is the happy, perfect side. During this adjustment period nothing has felt blogworthy because I felt like it wouldn’t live up to people’s expectations. Ultimately, I write this blog as a way of documenting my life and sharing it with others going through similar experiences. I have decided that even if no one reads this blog it still deserves to be shared and explored.

This summer I worked a ton, took two summer classes, and spent time with my family and friends. It was a great summer that went by way too fast. Fall semester is almost here and I will be graduating with my Bachelor’s degree in May!!

As of today I will be blogging as often as I can. I want to share a lot of the experiences that I had while abroad as well as my day-to-day life. If you have any suggestions about what to write or blogging advice, please let me know! I can use all of the help that I can get!

Sunday Funday at Primrose Hill

Hello, friends!

One of my favorite things to do in London was explore the Royal Parks with my friends. While I was in London I had the privilege to live in Regent’s Park which is one of the largest parks in central London. Near Regent’s Park is Primrose Hill where you can climb to the top of the hill and have a fantastic view of the London skyline.

The last Sunday (5/10/15) in London before my family visited six of us girls packed a picnic brunch and climbed Primrose Hill to eat. Anna  Sophie made pancakes at her flat and the rest of us brought drinks and snacks. I brought a blanket and we all lounged together for hours eating, laughing, and chatting about anything and everything.

It was the perfect day for a picnic with the sun shining brightly over London. We had a clear view of the skyline and were even surprised with the Red Arrows doing a flyover right above us! It was such a cool experience to be a part of!

I miss my friends and I really miss the simple things like spending the afternoon relaxing together. London was the most wonderful adventure of my life where I met my life-long best friends! Primrose Hill was one of my favorite places in London to explore and relax at.

June Goals

Hello again! I am back from my little blogging break! 🙂

This past semester I studied abroad in London which turned into the best experience of my life. I still have many posts that I would like to share with all of you about things that I did while I was abroad. I flew back to Michigan on May 30th and have just been putting my life back together ever since. It was hard coming home because I feel like I am a much different person now then I was in January when I left for London. I don’t fit the same way in my old life anymore so there are many things that I need to adjust.

Now is my chance to change whatever I would like about my life. I have decided to set myself a few goals for June in order to stay on track and get some things done. This is a new kind of post for me so let me know what you think!

  1. Spend more time with my family and friends: After being away for four months I have a lot of catching up to do. I also realized while I was gone that in the past I haven’t had much time off to spend with my family and I really regret that. I need to start putting my family first.
  2. Take Megan on at least five walks a week: Megan is our family’s three and a half year old puggle. We got her in October and she is a little bundle of energy! I’ve been taking her on a walk every day since I have come back and she really loves it.
  3. Focus on eating healthy: While I was abroad I ate whatever I wanted to and never thought about the consequences. Now that I am back I need to focus on eating healthy and getting back to a heathy pre-study abroad weight.
  4. Organize my bedroom and donate/sell clothing: I have already started doing this and it’s exhausting. While I was gone I lived with just a few clothing options and I liked it much better than having an exploding closet. Now that I am getting older I need to start investing in quality pieces instead of focusing on quantity.
  5. Start working again: I’ve been home for almost a week and haven’t started at work yet. I am going back to my old job which I am excited about but I needed some time off before going back to figure things out.
  6. Finish study abroad blogs: I got really behind on blogging while I was in London because I spent the majority of my time doing things with my friends or exploring London. I have so many adventures that I would still like to share with you! Hopefully I will have time to finish everything this month!

I’m thinking that setting goals each month will be a great addition to my life and this blog. I would love to read about all of your goals so please let me know if you are also doing these posts! I’m always so inspired by other bloggers! Also, at the end of the month I may or may not to a recap where I review the goals that I had set for myself.

Get to Know Me!

Hey guys! This is just a little introduction post because I just realized that I never really wrote one…. Oops.

1. Well, I will be 21 in October! I am looking forward to a low key gathering with some of my close friends. We are planning to go out somewhere but I know that I’m not the type to go too crazy. I have honestly been waiting for my 21st birthday before I start drinking. I know it’s not that big of a deal but I am a complete rule follower. I would feel so bad if I broke the law and drank before it’s legal. Plus, I have heard that alcohol doesn’t even taste good. Apparently you have to acquire the taste which seems like too much work!

2. I am a junior in college this fall. I am little ahead but I will still graduate spring 2016. My major is Electronic Business Marketing with minors in General and International Business. I am completely in love with the Business World and know that I have picked the right career path for me!

3. My favorite color is purple. I’m all purple everything.

4. When I was younger I wanted to be a writer. I would write a ton of cute, cheesy books that I would insist that every member of my family should read. It was great. I eventually moved on but now I use my blog to fulfill my love of writing.

5. I’m trying to quit drinking pop. It is way harder than I thought that it would be. Any suggestions?

6. I was in the high school marching band. I loved marching! I met many great friends and made awesome memories that will last me the rest of my life. I am a proud band geek! It was nice that I always had a place where I felt at home. I could go to the band room when I was having a bad day and be around people who cared about me.  I miss band but will always carry the experiences and memories with me.

7. I love my cat! Her name is Lucy and she is so cute and cuddly. My mom adopted Lucy for me during my junior year of high school as a present right after Christmas. Lucy had been at the pound for over 45 days which means that she was about to be put down. I walked in and she stuck her paws through the cage. I instantly fell in love with her and we have been inseparable since!

8. All through high school I was planning on being a Music Performance major in college. I play the flute and I used to practice 3-5 hours a day along with lessons, classes, rehearsals, and ensembles. I love music and I am passionate about playing. However, I have stage fright and have a hard time playing in front of people. So being a Music Performance major would be really difficult. My sophomore year I played a Mozart piece for Solo and Ensemble that I spent over a year preparing! Music will always be an important part of my life but I’m glad that I decided to major in Business.
